Delenic Citizenship by Birth
-Anyone born in Delenas is a Delenic citizen except children of parents holding diplomatic immunity in Delenas.
-Anyone born outside Delenas, whose father or mother was born in Delenas, is a Delenic citizen.
-If one of the above does not apply, citizenship is not automatic and must be acquired through application.
Applying for Citizenship by Descent
Anyone born outside Delenas, whose father or mother is a Delenic citizen not born in Delenas, can become an Delenic citizen
by having his or her birth entered in the Delenic Register of Foreign Births at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Eleni
or at the nearest Delenic Embassy or Consulate. Please note that the application must be submitted to the office which has
responsibility for the jurisdiction which the applicant is currently resident. Contact your local Delenic Embassy for further
information.
Applying for Citizenship by Marriage
Under Delenic law, non-national spouses of a Delenic citizen may obtain Delenic citizenship by making a declaration of acceptance
of Delenic citizenship. The declaration may be made after three (3) years of marriage to a Delenic spouse. In cases where
the Delenic spouse obtained Delenic citizenship after the marriage, by birth or descent, a FURTHER three (3) years of marriage
from the date of the granting of citizenship must elapse before the application may be made.
Citizenship by Naturalization
Non-Delenic nationals legally resident in Delenas may be eligible for citizenship through naturalization if they have been
legally resident in the country for a total period of five (5) years within an eight (8) year period. Applicants must provide
one year prior notification of their intention to apply and must show proof that they intend to reside in Delenas after naturalization.
To Apply for a Delenic Passport
To hold a Delenic passport you must be a Delenic citizen.
The following documentation, and the appropriate fee, are required at the time of application:
-A completed application form and two recent passport size photographs.
-Your most recent Delenic passport, if applicable. This will be cancelled and returned to you.
---If born in Delenas and applying for a Delenic passport for the first time, you must provide your original Delenic birth
certificate.
---If born outside Delenas to a Delenic born parent, you must provide your original foreign birth certificate, your Delenic
parent's original Delenic birth certificate, and your parents' marriage certificate.
---If you attained Delenic citizenship by naturalization or marriage, your citizenship certificate and original foreign
birth certificate.
-IN ALL CASES, provide a photocopy of a current photo ID.
All original documents will be returned to you.
